I never appreciated Captain America until now. When I was young kid reading comics Particularly Marvel, I gravitated to Spider-man and the Hulk more. Being an adult I realized my bigger responsibilities just not to myself but to people around me, especially kids. So now I look at cap with a different mindset. My introduction was reading Brubaker’s run on Captain America and man was I hooked. It opened up a new ideology for me towards the character. I always felt this character symbolized truth, Justice with a strong signature. I feel now he represents so much more. His symbolic message is not only inspirational but Honorable. The Mighty Thor has even stated “Captain America is one of the few Humans he would follow through the gates of Hades. Steve Rogers before becoming Captain America was a fighter and true soldier even before the Super Serum that gave him his power and strength. Frail, sickly but determined to make a difference. I feel we all have that willingness in us to make differences no matter how big or small the difference is. Captain America symbolizes the courage to stand up and fight the odds.
Cap has always been that Character when he guest stars in a comic with other heroes brings such a strong magnetic presence. His idea of Freedom for all mankind was always his mission statement. Heroism doesn’t come easy to some or even most Super Hero Characters. But for Cap it is embedded within him. His heart is always in the right place. One of my special moments was in the phenomenal Marvel event “The Siege” Where he gives a compelling speech before Final battle with Norman Osborn. Definitely made me jump out of my seat and say Hell Yeah. I’m looking forward to the new Captain America Film by Marvel Studios “The Winter Soldier” played by Chris Evans. Well I think I said it all, but I’ll leave you with this. In these cynical and sometimes very dark times, a hero like Captain America gives that nice glimmer of hope we all need to move forward and survive.
Thanks Captain America!
